i appreciate ofmd’s “it’s only 1717 when it’s funny” approach to historical accuracy. pinnochio was written in the 1800s. the real israel hands should be 16. pyramid schemes. stede being in that incredibly modern theater teacher outfit. anyway i think lucius should know who lady gaga is but no one else does

[a reply from bitchdisorder: dnd campaign-style period accuracy]

love all the notes on this post everyone thank you for reminding me of hits such as:

  • swede singing a mozart song before mozart was born
  • lucius saying he had a beard in the gay, dating a girl because you’re closeted sense & jim having no idea what the fuck he’s talking about
  • ed’s actual biker jacket which literally did not even occur to me while watching that it might be slightly out of place because i was too into the idea of pirates wearing leather
  • the real ed & stede being in their 20s
  • someone saying “they’re going to leave me a bad review” potentially implying the existence of a ye olde yelp
  • everyone saying “bro”
  • Olu’s crocs
  • and of course, something i was going to mention in my original post but forgot, jim’s gc2b binder

realized this morning that the way stede is arranged in the bed here that the second pillow is not actually in use - it’s set up next to him as though to imply a second space in the bed. the bed is small, sure, but unlike the images of mary in ep 10 where she’s spread out in the middle, stede is kept to his own side. the second pillow is reserved.

image

and here’s ed! coming to put his hand on that spot! like he’s claiming it for his own!

image

and here he is in that spot! tucked up in that spot! it’s just not got stede alongside him anymore. and that’s a problem.

anyway series 2 let me see them snuggling in the bed together

[ID: Image one is Vincent van Gogh’s 1889 oil painting The Starry Night. It depicts a town in a valley at night with a tall tree in the foreground. The sky is full of bright yellow stars and the moon in a swirling vortex of blue with visible brushstrokes.

Image two is digital fanart from The Magnus Archives with similar composition. The Panopticon stands to the left of the image, dotted with huge, staring eyeballs. The stars and moon have been replaced with eyes, including one in the centre surrounded by smaller orbiting eyeballs, similar to Ophanim. In the valley, the village is overcome with chaos – one building is aflame, the Not!Them sits on a roof, and Jared Hopworth clings to the spire of what is a church in the original painting. At the top of the Panopticon, there is the silhouette of a person in the pupil of one of the eyes, their arms outstretched. To the right of the image, on top of a cliff, Jon and Martin look out at the scene. They are similar heights, Martin with a heavy-set build and Jon with a thinner one. They are holding hands. The heads of both Jon and the silhouette are circled by glowing green eyes, and a light fog emanates from Martin. The whole image is in a highly-saturated palette of green and black. End ID.]
